The PROTEAS EDF 2022 Project made a strong and dynamic presence at DEFEA 2025, held from May 6–8, 2025, in Athens, Greece, under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence. During the exhibition, several members of the PROTEAS Consortium, including the Project Coordinator, had the opportunity to showcase key project technologies.:
Eight Bells Ltd. presented its cutting-edge gimbal systems, offering enhanced situational awareness and surveillance functionality. Gimbal camera systems in PROTEAS Project provide stabilized, 360° day/night imaging, using electro-optical and infrared sensors for real-time surveillance, tracking, and target identification. They support missions like border control, maritime patrol, and search & rescue by delivering clear, geo-referenced video in all conditions.
Satways Ltd. showcased the design of the Perimeter Security System (PSS) sub-system, based on its highly modular ENGAGE C2/CSIM platform, a command-and-control solution that integrates various security technologies and provides an enhanced situational awareness regarding threats to the SOFCP. The assets that Satways will contribute to the overall system (integrating also the solutions provided by several other partners) are the Advanced Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system, the Face Recognition (FR) solution for access control, and the fully in-house developed UGS prototype for identifying threats approaching by land.
INTRACOM DEFENSE (IDE), the Project and Technical Coordinator, emphasized its strategic role, ongoing activities, and leadership within the consortium. IDE further showcased in its booth a 3D-printed mockup of the PROTEAS ISR UAV, its Tactical Communication System and Hybridization and Energy Storage Solutions, that will form integral components of the PROTEAS System of Systems (SoS).
Visitors had the opportunity to explore the PROTEAS Project through visual presentations, hardware mockups, and informative posters, providing insight into the project’s objectives and results. Mr. Georgios Stavritis, European Commission Project Officer, honored all three PROTEAS partners with his visit at their booths. During his tour, Mr. Stavritis had a meeting with Mr. Kintis Angus, PROTEAS Project Coordinator, for an in-depth discussion on the project’s current status, recent achievements, and future directions.
